Kruse Family Home Session

Last time I met the Kruse family at Julius Kahn Playground and this time we met at their home.  I have to say I really love the split session approach.  I think everyone was more relaxed (myself included) and we just had fun.  Lilly was beautiful and charming while she showed off her room and all of her books.   Little Grayson was o’so close to crawling and doing everything he could to keep up with his sister.   And this time I focused on showing the love between Stephanie and Mike.  8 years is no small feat and while I imagine that everything isn’t perfect (they are very real after all), they clearly are doing a great job.

Congrats to both of you and good luck with the move.  I do hope you hire movers.

The Berg Family

In early June, just as I was leaving San Francisco for the AIDS Life Cycle, I got a random email from an old college friend – Jeff Berg.  Out of the blue, Jeff says that he wants to donate to ride.  His contribution was one of my most “I can’t believe people are so generous” moments.  Truly inspiring.  It took a couple months, but we arranged for a family sessions with his wife Friea and their darling daughter Carmelle.  We met at the Alta Vists Park and I was blown away.  The weather was crap (another day in a string of overcast days) but the views were amazing and play structure was great.  Definitely worth checking out.

Of course, the dew and the fog didn’t slow Carmelle down for one moment.  She found every wet slide and stepped in every puddle.  I just loved her big grin.

Beauty in the Bart William’s House

I’ve had the very good fortune of knowing Arthur and Jessica Bart Williams for almost 10 years.  We’ve been together through some very good times and some very tough times.  Though it all, they’ve smiled, laughed and made the world a better place for everyone they meet.  And with their two girls – Isabell and Natalie – the beauty of their family just jumps off the page.  You can just see how darn happy they are.

Love you so much and thanks for giving me the chance to record your family at this point in time.  Quite the honor for me.

P.S.  Arthur locked the keys in the house and it was quite impressive to see him climb up the roof and shimmy into their bathroom.

Kruse Family Photos

Best thing about being a photographer is getting to meet knew people and getting see something special about their lives.  Today I met Stephanie and Mike Kruse and their two beautiful children Lilly and Grason.   Lilly is just full of spunk and spent a good amount of time running and running and running the lawn at Julius Kahn.  Grason is only 11 months and his little personality is really starting to show.  Stephanie and Mike have their hands full for sure but it looks like they are doing a fabulous job.  It’s always great to photograph a family where you can just feel the love.

A few examples below.

Abramowitz Family Portaits

Had a wonderful family portrait session with Abramowitz family from Mill Valley.  Parker is 2 and Stephanie and Mark are expecting number 2 in August.  Beautiful family with lots of energy and love.  We took pictures in and around their home (love the big back yard) and in Kay Park.  Little Parker is a budding photographer and took to photographing Mom and Dad from my lap.  The standout photo is of Parker curled up in a play tube.  Smile for the ages for sure.  But one photo that caught my eye is of Mark and Parker walking on the street.  Mark looks like a movie star that was followed by the paparazzi.

Best part was getting a goodbye hug and kiss from Parker when I left.  Just have to love those moments.

Family Portaits for Rebecca, Ari and Jonah

I met Rebecca, Ari and Jonah through my wife and her mom’s group.  They are moving to Dallas in June and wanted photos to commemorate their years in San Francisco.  We talked and settled on two locations that were important to them: the Randall Museum and Buena Vist Park.  Both areas have amazing views and great afternoon sunlight.   That afternoon the fog rolled in so we were racing against increasing winds and dropping temperatures.  Fortunately, they are troopers and we got a great collection.  I’ll definitely miss them and wish them the best of luck in Dallas.

Note from Rebecca…

“Joey did an amazing job capturing our family’s daily life in a beautiful, refreshing way. As a dad, he really understood our 2 year old and helped us determine where and when would be ideal to get great family photos. We were thrilled with the pictures and had so much fun working with him. He really gets kids and us!”
