Nopa Block Party 2010

I think it’s fair to say that NOPA (or north of the pan handle) is one of the hippest neighborhoods in San Francisco right now. Not only is the plethora of bars and restaurants in the area packed almost every night but also there is an incredibly strong community atmosphere in the neighborhood. There is Nopa Little Ones for families, Nopa Networking and Nopa+ for business minded folks, and the quarterly art walks along Divisadaro for all the creative types. It is a very cool place to be. And in looking back, I’d have to say the longest running community event and catalyst for all the coolness in NOPA has been the Nopa Block Party. I don’t know the origins but I imagined it started off with a bunch of families thinking about a BBQ with a place for the kids to play and where the parents could have a beer or two . And now after 5 years there is a title sponsor (thank Bonnie), an amazing organizer (thanks Candace), two jumpy houses, animals to pet, bands, food, vendors and a slew of children, families and other rabble-rousers. Simply put a great neighborhood party.

Great to see everyone and congrats – not only for throwing another great party but also for being the people that made NOPA so cool.

A few shots below and the full gallery here. Since there are photos of children, I’ll post the password to Nopa Parents. And, I was there until 12-ish. Sorry if I missed you.
