Traci’s North Beach Birthday Party

My friend Kate is one of those people that you don’t have to know very long or see very often to be close with. She is just a good person and always upbeat no matter what she has going on in her world (and with two kids and a crazy commute, she has lots going on). So when she said that she was organizing a birthday party for a good friend of hers and needed a photographer I jumped at the chance. We had a blast at Vicoletto and a very cool un-named bar in North Beach. Traci’s family had flown into San Francisco from Maryland so there was great energy all around. Turns out Traci and I have a good group of mutual friends and it was fun seeing them.

Sofia and Jonathan’s North Beath Engagement Pictures

I always love it when something unexpected happens that sends a photography session to a whole new level.  Sometimes its when the light gets just perfect or when you discover the perfect San Francisco view.  This time it was a moped.  Sophia, Jonathan and I were having a time making their engagement photos in North Beach.  They were clearly in love and the light was beautiful.  We could have ended it right there and gone home happy.  But then I asked “what is the one thing you really want with your engagement photos?”  Almost without hesitation, Sofia mentioned their moped.  Not what I expected but definitely interesting.  Since their house was just a few blocks away, we decided to pull it out and the real fun began.  They started hamming it up and looked so good that traffic actually stopped.  Such a good time.  Definitely makes me thing that their wedding will be one very fun ho-down.

Thanks Sofia and Jonathan – this was a shoot that I won’t forget anytime soon.  Best of luck with the wedding and hitting the road with the moped.

North Beach Afternoon with Glenda and Seth

For all you photographers out there, when someone says “let’s meet in North Beach and check out a couple record and book stores.”  Say “what day and time” with out hesitation.  That’s what Glenda and Seth suggested to me for their portrait session and honestly I really didn’t know what to expect.  We met at Cafe Puccini (the location of their first date) and then proceeded to the most random record store I have ever seen.  Top floor was packed to the gills with stereo equipment from the 80′s and 90′s and the basement was equally crammed with LPs and guitars.   Best part was watching Glenda and Seth work their magic while searching for hidden gems.   They knew all the details about bands that I never even knew existed.  You just have to love San Francisco – you never know what you’ll find.

Glenda and Seth – thanks for showing me something new in San Francisco.  Hope you enjoy the photos.
